Unknown Trigs

Monday 1st October 2018

Today my mission was to find some more trig points
There was one near town that I had seen as I was driving around but there was not a listing on GCA for it

Wickham Area CC108           Wickham, WA

I was advised of its location by the reviewer and I had a set of Coords to go to
It is not far from town and can be accessed by a track which will take you straight up the hill to the TP
I wanted to be a bit more discrete so I found a 4wd track which wound its way around the back of the hill to a bit of a gully not far from the TP
Part way up the hill there is a small cave which seems to be used by the local wallabies and there was even the remains of a dead one part way down the hill

I made my way up a steep slippery track to the top to see the structure with the bronze disc stamped CC108 set in a round concrete block
There is another nice scenic view of the town and surrounding countryside from the top, I took some photos and moved onto the next mission to visit the town of Cossack

When I came to the turnoff to Cossack I spotted another trig structure on a nearby hill
I stopped and checked GCA and saw that it was not listed, I had go check this one out

Wickham Area CC109

I was able to get most of the way to the trig on a well maintained gravel road, this took me to the entrance of a mine site which had restricted access
There was a side track around the mine site which I was able to follow and this took me to the top of the hill right up to the trig

I took some photos of the trip and the bronze plaque and sent the pics to the reviewer and he quickly added this trig to the data base
This trig has spectacular 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside

A Low Tide Wander                       GC78Q8D

I continued on my journey out to the historic town of Cossack
There is a cache right at the point which sounded like it was best tackled at low tide
I drove to the carpark at the top of the lookout and decided it was just as easy to head out to the headland from the lookout
The walk was a bit treacherous due to the hill consisting mostly of boulders, the beach walk would probably been a better choice
I had looked  at previous logs which suggested that the cache was at a different location to where the listed Coords stated
I created a waypoint in the app with the adjusted coords and headed directly to that point
The cache was an easy find at these coords and the log was soon signed and cache placed back in its hiding spot
I climbed up to the top of the nearby white granite ridge to appreciate the fabulous views of the surrounding beaches and the blue ocean with the islands offshore then made my way back up the hill to the lookout

"Cozzie Time"                                          GCC994

While at the lookout I was waiting for a family of muggles to leave so I could tackle the cache here
They took a long time here as they were using a drone to get some photos
After a while I got chatting with them and asking about their travels across the country
Down at the beach the tide was coming in and we spotted a large shark swimming around in the shallows
While they were distracted by the shark I snuck off to GZ to make a quick find
The container was all broken and needed to be replaced, I did not have a replacement container with me so I decided to come back the next day with a new container

Early the next morning I returned and replaced the container and placed the logbook in a new zip lock bag
Later I came back to get a pic of the sunset but had left it too late and missed the sunset

While I was here I dropped off one of the TBs I had been carrying around with me
