Holland Track Adventure Nov 2018, Day 1, Part 2

Saturday 3 Nov 2018 (continued)

This day would turn out to be a Huge adventure so it seems only logical that I will need to break it up into small chunks to allow such an enormous story to be more easily digested

Cache 2

Continuing north along the power line trail we headed towards the next cache

Mt Wells - Bibbulmun Track                       GC78NMM

The track was still quite good with only a few washouts to negotiate
Due to good planning by my travel buddy we were able to navigate quite easily to the correct road to take us up the hill to the lookout
The road was in good repair so was easy going, as we approached the last 200m of the road we came to a locked gate
We parked the car at the gate, which in hindsight was not the best move, and continued the walk to the top of the hill
Not far from the gate a vehicle approached from below and we flagged them down to hitch a ride to the top saving us an uphill walk to the top, Ha Ha.
The couple were able to negotiate our parked vehicle and come up the road
They were acting as a support crew for a group of walkers on the Bibbulmun Track
Once we arrived at the top we let them get on with their tasks and we quickly found the cache and signed the log

While we were here we climbed up the old fire lookout tower to appreciate the view then set off back down the hill to the vehicle.

Once again when I got home I was able to look at the satellite view of the cache area to see yet another monstrous mining operation nearby
Back at the vehicle it was time to head off to the next cache on the list
