Tuesday 6 Nov
Another early wake up for us this morning, we had had our breakfast and were completely packed up our campsite before some of the other travellers had even gotten out of bed.
I think some had enjoyed the drinks by the fire a bit too much the previous evening.
We help the others where we could to pack up as we were keen to get on the road again as there was another big day of driving ahead of us
Once we were all packed up the convoy was ready to set off once more
Mistraluna and myself actually took off a bit ahead of the others so we could stop and take photos along the way without holding up the convoy
We stopped for a photo at Wattle Rocks and continued on negotiating one muddy puddle after the other. We were fortunate that at the time we chose to drive the track it was relatively dry so we were easily able to drive around the worst of the mud holes
It was amazing to see how deep some of them were. If you were to drive into some while at their fullest you could easily submerge your vehicle
Along the way we enjoyed wonderful scenery and views of the countryside. The vegetation constantly changing and negotiating many more mud holes
We came to the intersection of the Holland track and the Marvel Loch Forrestania road and the track joins the road for a short distance then diverts once again with the track passing Mt Holland.
We stopped here and made the short walk up the rocky gravel track to the top of the hill to find a trig point at the top and wonderful 360 degree views of the surrounding countryside
We found the cache here and logged the find and continued on our journey
Mt Holland GCG58K
There was also the trig point to get photos of to log on GCA
Mount Holland TP1861
Our journey took us through many different types of terrain with more mud holes but the track was not as wet as earlier parts
We came to the state dog fence and crossed through a gate to the other side
Stopping along the way we took the opportunity to grab some lunch and then went for a walk to find the cache
Cruzin' #3 GCVRTX
We then continued on our journey and to our next cache
DD3-22 Holland Track Centenary GC2E48D
We were ahead of the convoy but the others caught up pretty quick once we had stopped to check out the cache and sign the log which was a neat visitors book
We continued on, dodging the mud holes and enjoying the scenery until we came to our next cache
Luckys Boot - John Holand Track GC2E88B
We arrived here first and were able to find the cache, sign the log and replace it before the rest of the group caught up and enjoyed watching search for and retrieve the cache
At one of our stops, Mistraluna realised that the beeping from her GPSr was it picking up a nearby
Chirp chip and tracked it down to Wayne. It turned out to be a GCA moveable cache. We were able to log the find in his log book before carrying on again.
G'day from WA GA7191
Along the way we stopped to grab the last cache of the day
Sunset BLVD - John Holand Track GC2E88P
We were ahead of the group as unbeknown to us one of the vehicles managed to get a flat tyre and they were all held up while helping them out
We quickly found the cache and waited for the others to catch up
We passed a place called Cat Camp along the way but kept going to see if we could find a better spot to camp
We carried on and soon the day was getting late and it was time to find a place to camp
The usual camp flurry ensued, setting up our awning, camp beds and all the cooking gear to cook up our dinner then a nice camp fire to sit around and chat about the days adventures.
Soon it was time for bed and we were all looking forward to the next days adventures.
