South Coast Tag along caching trip, day 3

Day 3

A quick breakfast this morning and pack up camp then we all drove down to the parking area at Breakfast Holes, Black Point

Humpback Hollow camp site

At our first stop there is an Earthcache so we wandered around discussing the questions required to satisfy a find log and agreed that Wayne would send an email on behalf of the group

Pillars on the Coast                              GC5JFH9

While we were taking photos and discussing the various answers to questions the kids had fun rock hopping and exploring

Return to the vehicles

Our next destination was the nearby carpark at Black Point
From the lookout shelter here we could see our next destination, the point of the headland at the end of the beach

Stepping Stones or Stumbling Blocks? GC5JFGB

We set off across the first section picking our way over scattered boulders until we reached the sandy beach and continued on towards the headland

When we arrived at the headland we got some photos and checked out the questions to find the required answers to log the Earthcache
Once again we decided to let Wayne email the CO on behalf of the group
On this day the sea was very rough so it was not possible to get as close to the GZ as was required
It was an enjoyable walk along the beach and the kids had a lot of fun
By the time we got back to the carpark it was lunch time and we had a quick lunch and set off to our next location

We headed out of Black Point back to the Woodarburrup road and turning east

Continuing on until we came to the Jasper Beach turnoff

Along the way we came upon a large perentie lizard on the side of the road

We headed down the sandy track, planning to stop at a parking spot at the top of the dunes, however I overshot the parking area and ended up on the dune overlooking the beach
Shane and I decided to chance it, hoping that we would not get bogged
Luckily Shane is much better set up with recovery gear so if we did get bogged we should be able to get out...….fingers crossed, ha ha
We drove down on to the beach and headed west toward the cache

Goin' Coastal - Jasper Beach             GC1937C

The going was tough as the sand was quite soft but we kept our momentum up so as not to get bogged
We soon arrived at GZ and Charlie jumped out to search for the cache and he soon had it in hand

After we all signed the log the kids had a play on the beach while we let some more air out of our tyres for the more difficult return trip back along the beach and back up the dune

With a successful exit from the beach we headed back to the main track heading towards Lake Jasper
The drive along the way was through some wonderful woodland forest, the track proved a little challenging but was great fun

On arrival at the Lake Jasper area I drove straight to the camping area to check out the sites
There are only a couple of sites, luckily we claimed the larger site and got set up just in time as other groups of campers turned up and had to make do with the smaller site
The kids headed down to the beach for a swim and after I had set up the camp I joined them for a swim in the beautiful lake

It was great to cool off and wash off some of the dust and sweat of the days drive
It had been another amazing adventure and after dinner it was good to get into the camp cot for a much needed sleep

Tomorrow should be another amazing adventure
